The Heritage Village provides an interesting glimpse into the country’s past. It is run by Emirates Heritage Cub and is located at the extreme end of the Abu Dhabi Corniche, the Breakwater. If you are planning to visit the Abu Dhabi Corniche or the Emirates Palace, then remember you can be very close to the Heritage Village. Take a chance to see the Heritage Village which is very near the Marina Mall and Abu Dhabi Theatre. If you are at some point of the very long Abu Dhabi Corniche and not sure of the location, it is better to get a taxi and ask to take you to the Marina Mall side where the large flag is located.

Try to reach the Heritage Village before 5 pm as the various activities and displays are closed for the day after 5 pm. Photography is allowed everywhere inside. Visitors can get the amazing pictures of the pre-historic Abu Dhabi. There are a number of stalls inside for everything from leather and glass to pottery and weaving. Visitors will get a chance to see and try how the craftsmen work in reality to make such wonderful art works. There is a small market place with some shops selling various artifacts and local collections where tourists can definitely go for some bargains to own their favorites. The little spice shop is a treat; a range of dried herbs and handmade soap are available here. Set in lush gardens with trickling fountains, it's now one of the most interesting places in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Seeing the living exhibition on how people used to live in the past and construct the palm and other houses, old fishing villages, traditional souks, mud brick houses and traditional mosque is one of things to do in Abu Dhabi while you are in the city. If you intend to take a journey to the history then the Heritage Village in Abu Dhabi is one of the best places to visit in Abu Dhabi.

One hour is enough to spend at this amazing place to see the beauty of the culture through museums, photographic exhibitions and handicrafts centre, built houses which are made of strange materials. The open museum offers a glimpse of Abu Dhabi life before oil revenues altered the landscape, economically and socially with a re-creation of the desert way of life, including a campfire with coffee pots, a goats’ hair tent, and a falaj irrigation system. There is an artificially created desert environment with Bedouin tents, camel and horse. Travelers can even try a small trip over the camel and take desert like pictures for the memory of their visit to this wonderland. There is a nice Arabic restaurant inside the Heritage Village which faces the beach front and Abu Dhabi Corniche.

The Heritage Village is located on a 1600 square meters site overlooking the Corniche, near the Breakwater close to Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi.

If you prefer to stay near the Corniche, it has got some of the most well-known hotels in the city, like the long-standing Sheraton, Hilton, Jumeirah At Etihad Towers, Sofitel, Intercontinental Abu Dhabi and the Emirates Palace Hotel, all hotels situated near the Corniche road. You can also check out the various hotel deals in the Tourist Club Area (TCA) which is just 5 minutes drive away in to the city.

Getting in to Abu Dhabi Heritage Village:

International travelers can easily reach the Heritage Village which is just 50-minutes drive away from Abu Dhabi International Airport and 110-minutes drive away from Dubai International Airport. Travelers coming from Dubai can either go through Yas Island to drive straight to Corniche road or cross Sheikh Zayed Bridge (or Maqta Bridge) to reach the Abu Dhabi Island. Once you reach in the Abu Dhabi Island, go ahead for Tourist Club Area where a number of hotel accommodations are available or directly jump to Abu Dhabi Corniche area where beach front hotels are available. Corniche road is the 1st Street in the capital and it leads to the Breakwater Abu Dhabi where the popular Marina Mall and Heritage Village are located.
