Praia da Falésia

One of the longest beaches in the Algarve

The name Falésia means ‘cliff’ and refers to the distinctive orange-red cliffs that flank this long South-West facing beach.

Falésia beach is one of the longest in the Algarve with a stretch of more than 6km of golden sands. Located between Vilamoura and Albufeira, it is a popular spot for families and resort visitors in the summer. The sand banks have a gentle slope to the water and there are plenty of beach restaurants, facilities and lifeguards during the busier summer season.

Apart from enjoying the waves it is also possible to take a long walk or bike ride along a coastal path that runs through scenic villages such as Olhos de Agua and Açoteias and across the top of the cliffs which are dotted with pine forests.

Boat excursions and watersport facilities are available from Vilamoura and Albufeira at either end of the beach and include scuba diving, windsurfing and water skiing.

Some of the best championship golf courses are also nearby at Vilamoura.
