Lunch Debate with Secretary of State for Tourism

Type: Cultural

The British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce have great pleasure in hosting a lunch debate with the Secretary of State for Tourism, Dra Cecilia Meireles as guest speaker.

This event will take place at the Hilton Vilamoura as Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa on Tuesday May 15th at 12.30.

Mr Chris Barton the Secretary General of the British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce highlights the topic:

"The tourism sector in Portugal remains one of the most promising for the Portuguese economy, and one which rapidly generates employment. 2011 was a positive year, with increases in overnight stays and turnover. However these improvements were mainly as a result of the economic downturn in competing markets and were seen as temporary.

In a state of general economic crisis it is essential to diversify towards new target groups whilst simultaneously maintaining traditional strategic markets such as the UK. Consequently the Plano Estratégico Nacional do Turismo assumes even greater importance. The plan aims to invigorate the sector until 2015 through the implementation of various projects related to the development of new products and innovative content; intervention in touristic areas of interest; by attracting international events; improving accessibility; promoting brands and national destinations, and much more".

If you wish to participate, complete the booking form (ATTACHMENT) and return it to the British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce before May 11th.
