 Windsurf OverviewLocated right on the beach by the picturesque fishing village of Alvor, Windsurf restaurant and snack bar is the perfect choice for delicious food and stunning views.
As you approach the restaurant the wonderfully vast horizon of Alvor beach becomes visible. This is the fantastic panorama that accompanies your meal, a view that is constantly changing depending on the hour. Windsurf is open all day serving tasty snacks, lazy lunches and romantic evening meals that allow you to enjoy breath-taking sunsets.
Then menu at Windsurf is varied, featuring a good selection of starters and salads including stuffed tomatoes, octopus salad and shellfish salad. The prawns are always delicious – grilled or fried, they are difficult to resist. House specials include a VERY generous Monkfish Kebab, Clam Cataplana (a typically Portuguese dish served in an elegant copper pot), Monkfish Cataplana and the Windsurf Special Caldeirada (Fish Stew). One of our personal favourites is the chicken and leek crepe.
Due to its beachside location Windsurf is perfect in the summer for long leisurely lunches out of the hot midday sun and even more leisurely dinners after a hard day tanning on the beach. There is something special about sipping a chilled Vinho Verde and watching the sun disappear into the Atlantic as the first stars appear in the evening sky. In the winter Windsurf has a charm all its own as you sip a warming drink and enjoy the usually mild Algarve winter.
Windsurf is an excellent choice for families – the adults get to enjoy a relaxed meal while the younger members of the group can enjoy the beach and dunes. The service is always friendly and welcoming. All in all, a winner.

Mussten dieses Jahr "leider" aussetzen
Jedes Jahr, wenn wir in Alvor Urlaub machen sind wir beim Windsurfer.
Es gibt in keinem Bereich etwas auszusetzen, im Gegenteil.

Had a number of lunches during two week stay. Food was freshly cooked and service was quick and efficient. If you are looking for something a bit different try the tuna and onion stew which was outstanding.

Went to this restaurant last night with a good friend who recommended it (she's a local so has good inside info). The food was so good! We asked for the fresh fish of the day and it came with beautifully prepared veg n salad. The service was terrific and the whole place clean and welcoming. Loved it. Was surprised to see one bad review here, maybe the trick is to ask for the fresh fish of the day. A couple next to us had clams n they too looked great.

Location location location..... so yes Windsurf gets off to a great start. But other than the views of the beach and atlantic ocean, Windsurf offers a little bit of peace and calm - an atmosphere brought about primarily by the staff who are attentive friendly and courteous but never intrusive. Having lingered over 2 cups of tea and my book for a generous hour not once did I feel under pressure to leave or to purchase more. However i did stay on for lunch and was very glad I did. Food was great - quantity and quality did not disappoint and afterwards I was more than able to face another 'arduous ' afternoon on the beach!

We go to alvor about twice a year and always eat at least once at Windsurf. You must have had a bad day, cos we always enjoy the food and the service.and the beach is the best!

After reading the reviews on this site we thought we would try this beach bar today. We had sole which was not fresh but frozen and served with frozen chips and the omelette which again was served with frozen chips. The cost including a bottle of wine was Eur 35 which we thought was expensive.

The Windsurf Beach Restaurant is located in one of the most beautiful beach settings in the Algarve. The smells and sounds of the Alvor Beach will make you remain in the dream forever. The ambiance and friendly service was flawless. Definitely try their cataplana or oven baked fresh fish with a refreshing Green Wine or homemade Sangria, made to perfection with fresh fruit and strawberries! Light for the beach lovers, quick for the golfers on the go, and romantic for the perfect night with the one you love. Try it-it's a must!

The Windsurf Restaurant is very welcoming. The staff are very friendly, the food is fantastic and the Sangria even better!!. We visited in Winter (December '08) and found it very relaxing to just sit and watch the world go by or read a book while sipping on the aforementioned Sangria. The food is very tasty and reasonably priced. The service is excellent. The view, as has been said before, is fantastic. Visiting the Windsurf made our holiday as it was a perfect place to just relax and forget the worries of life at home.
I would thorughly recommend anyone visiting the Algarve to go to the Windsurf bar. You won't regret it!

We always go to Alvor beach - no steps, never too crowded and plenty of lovely beach bars. Our favourite is Windsurf. They are really friendly here, especially with children. The food is great, everything is lovely and fresh and the prices are much more reasonable than some of the other beach bars. It's my favourite place for a cold beer after a tough afternoon on beach.
