Salsada do Zé, located right on the beach at Praia da Rocha, is a great place to spend some relaxing hours. Open all day from breakfast right through to dinner, you are assured of excellent food beautifully presented, a laid back atmosphere and stunning views.

The colourful restaurant nestles at the base of Praia da Rocha’s cliffs. From Salsada do Zé esplanade you can see the Praia da Rocha Marina to east and along the coast, to the west, Alvor and Lagos. In front of the restaurant you have the huge expanse of golden sands and wide blue ocean that is Praia da Rocha. The restaurant is ideal for people watching, both day and night, as visitors stroll along the boardwalk that runs the length of the beach.

Salsada do Zé is not your run of the mill beach bar. Sure, you can find all the usual popular snacks and sandwiches, but the menu also features some very original dishes creatively presented by your hosts Zé and Rosa. The cuisine is based on traditional Algarvian and Portuguese cuisine with a modern twist. The kebabs are wonderful – you can choose from fish, meat, prawn or even lobster kebabs. The lobster comes on one kebab, the accompanying vegetables on another. A feast for your eyes and your stomach!

One of the house specials (and there are several) is the “Manjar do Mar” – a wonderfully generous, fresh and appetizing seafood platter. You need to order this dish a day in advance, allowing Zé and Rosa to scout the best local seafood available. The Pork and Clam Cataplana is delicious, as is the Fish Caldeirada and the Feijoada da Buzinas ( a seafood bean stew) is a treat. There is fresh fish every day and a good selection of shellfish.

Vegetarians are very well catered for at Salsada do Zé. Here you are not limited to a mixed salad or a omelette. You can enjoy Tofu (smoked and unsmoked) in a variety of dishes as well as Spaghetti Bolognaise made with Soy.

Salsada do Zé is the ideal place for lazy lunches, tasty snacks and sunset dinners. It’s also a great venue for parties and celebrations. Families love to spend time here too. Not only can the kids play on the beach, there is a great childrens play area on the sand right beside Salsada do Zé.

If you are planning a get together with friends or family you should have a chat with the staff. They have a selection of menus for groups with prices to suit every pocket. Plus, on any special day or event (Valentines Day, Easter, Halloween etc)there is always a special themed menu.
