Alicante Tapas Restaurants

Our Local Experts say:

A great way to sample several small dishes of Spanish cuisine is at a tapas bar.  Tapas are appetisers or small dishes. Some are served cold like olives or Spanish hams. Others are hot like meatballs or baby squid.

You can be adventurous with your food by ordering a variety of dishes such as squid, octopus, fish, croquettes, hams, pork or tomatoes. Tapas are great for sharing and for trying something new.

If you want to spice up your meal, order the padron peppers. Some are hot while most are not. You may eat several but then pick out another which is as hot as a chili pepper. Be warned!

Tapas bars are often traditional Spanish bars with large hams hanging from the ceiling, old photos on the wall and plenty of good banter.
