A nice day out is to cycle over the Montgo from Denia to Javea (or vice versa), stop for lunch and then take the boat back.
The Montgo nature reserve dominates the skyline in the northern part of the Alicante province. It is very popular with walkers and cyclists. The views over the Mediterranean are amazing.
Its craggy cliffs are home to some of the most unusual flora and fauna in Spain. The mountain is renowned for its rock formations, cliffs and caves. It provides a home for many rare species of flora and fauna as well as wildlife and wild birds such as eagles, falcons, owls, toads, lizards, snakes and rabbits.
There are three main routes ranging from easy to difficult. The easiest is from the Les Planes area, while the most difficult is from the Cabo San Antonio, where you can enjoy fantastic views over Javea and Denia. Many people enjoy cycling or walking one way and then taking the boat back.
After your walk or ride, you will find many restaurants and hotels in the beautiful coastal resorts of Denia and Javea.
