What is Gassan Diamonds

With a legacy spanning over six decades, the multilingual Diamond experts at Gassan will not only acquaint you with the fine art of mounting these brilliants onto their radiant pedestals, but also guide you through the process of polishing those rough gems into sparkling spectacles. You will be introduced to the history of the world of diamonds, their contribution to the heritage of Amsterdam, as well as be enlightened about everything there is to know about these dazzlers, from cuts to clarity, carats and colours.

Rich History

Not only does Gassan Diamonds boast of an illustrious history, but also its building has a story to tell. This family-owned company was established by Samuel Gassan in 1945 as a diamond cutting unit in the Amsterdam Diamond Exchange. With a cut to its credit, the Gassan 121, the company has now grown to include the wholesale and retail trade of diamonds, loose polished diamonds, gold jewelry and watches, with various international divisions. The building that houses the company, known as the Boas building, is where Samuel Gassan first learnt how to cut diamonds.

Free Tour

The free guided tour at Gassan Diamonds runs seven days a week and concludes with a cup of tea, coffee or soft drink in the facility's very own coffee bar. You can also arrange for special or custom programmes in collaboration with the company, if you have a group of 150 people or more, or plan for a business trip. The Diamonds and Champagne tour is their most exciting, as it puts a real diamond in one lucky winner's glass. Gassan Diamonds is easily accessible by bus, tram and water bus, since it is located in the centre of the city.
