Grantley Adams International Airport

Barbados is the main gateway to the other islands of the Southern Caribbean. The Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA Inc) is one of the finest airports in the Caribbean and plays an important role as a vital centre and major link for international air traffic in the Eastern Caribbean.The main passenger terminal handles in excess of 2 million passengers each year and has been upgraded to accommodate increases in traffic. The airport is located about 30 minutes from the capital city, Bridgetown.

Club Caribbean VIP Lounge

Location: Landside, Terminal 1, upstairs between Air Canada and American Airlines Check-in counters. At the top of the stairs, turn left, then right. The lounge entrance is signposted as "Caribbean Airways", through the second door on the right.

Opening hours: 7am - 7pm daily except on Christmas Day.  Hours may vary depending on flight schedules.

Airlines Executive Lounge

Location: Airside, in the departures terminal, between gates 12 and 13. Take the elevator or stairs and follow the signs.

Opening hours:  Mon, Wed and Fri 5:30am - 8:15pm  
                           Tues, Thur and Sun 5:30am - 9pm
                           Sat 5:30am - 9:45pm . Closed on Christmas Day.

All visitors to Barbados now require a valid passport and onward or return tickets. All arriving visitors must fill in an Immigration form stating where they will be staying during their time in Barbados - it is advisable to have this information handy to avoid unnecessary delays on arrival.
Visitors may not bring in excess of US$10,000 in cash with them when arriving. Other than that though, you may spend as much as you like while in Barbados!

There is a Barbados Tourism Authority desk in the Arrivals Hall where visitors can seek assistance and get information pertaining to accommodation, transport, tours and other vital information for the holiday maker or business traveller.

Duty Free Shopping
GAIA has emerged as one of the island's premiere duty free shopping locations and some of best duty free shopping in an airport in the Caribbean. The expanded Departure's terminal with its shopping concourse offers travellers a range of shopping experiences in several areas of the terminal.

Duty Free Allowances
Great prices and a wide selection of products make duty free shopping at GAIA a must for departing passengers. But beware, save yourself the drama and make sure you know the duty free allowances before you travel - we suggest that you check with the relevant customs authorities in your country of origin before travelling.
 

LANDSIDE

The Shops of the Courtyard
The centrepiece of the departures terminal is the landside courtyard with its shops, bars, and restaurants open to all airport users. Also located outside the departures lounge are The Barbados National Bank and the Barbados Postal Service which offer their services to travellers; The Tamarind Seed, a lovely souvenir shop and boutique where passengers will find a wonderful selection of Barbadian art and craft, as well as a couple of convenience stores.
Since the shops are located outside of the Departures Lounge, one has the option of packing their purchases into the checked luggage, or if you can carry them by hand.

Restaurants
Chefette Restaurant, located on the landside, is part of a local chain and is open 24/7. The centre of the courtyard is occupied by the Banks Bar and serves Barbados' Gold Award winning beer and a range of beverages.
 

AIRSIDE

Arrival's Duty-Free Shop

In the arrivals hall, after having cleared immigration and before going through the customs check, there is a duty free liquor and tobacco shop where arriving passengers can purchase a wide selection of wines, spirits, cigarettes and chocolates at excellent tax free prices. This is a very convenient, hassle free way to stock up with whatever you need just before starting your vacation.

The Departures Lounge
Once one has cleared the security checkpoints, a lovely range of Duty Free stores are available: from fine jewellery stores such as Diamonds International, Colombian Emeralds and Cave Shepherd to the tasteful and authentic souvenir shop, Best of Barbados. In the Legends of Barbados shop, Harley Davidson of the West Indies is now also on sale.There is also a bookstore, convenience stores, liquor and tobacco stores, music, comestics and fragrances, leather and luggage, confectionary, gifts, T-shirts, souvenirs, craft and more...

Restaurants
Passengers have the choice of various types of food in the Airside Food Court with Asia Express, The Gourmet Pastry Co., Island Grill, Island Grab and Go. The Gate Zero Bar and Christophe's Coffee Bar complete the services offered.
