Trams

My Destination

The Tram system in Barcelona forms part of the integrated transport network. You will see them dotted around at various parts of the city as they traverse along the vast city streets. The white and green Trams are a great way to travel around the city and provide easy access to some key areas of Barcelona. A tram line is indicated on a Barcelona map by a ‘T’ and you should be looking out for a green colour. The Tram system largely services the parts of Barcelona where 'underground' links are spread further apart.

Trams are available on a total of six routes. There are three routes called 'Trambaix': T1, T2 and T3. The other three routes are 'Trambesos': T4, T5 and T6.

Using the Tram:

You may purchase a single ticket for the Tram network via the automated machines located at tram stops using cash or a credit/debit card. It is important to remember that unlike the Metro and FGC machines, those located at Tram stations do not accept bank notes and you will need coinage. If you have a multi-use ticket like the T-10 for example, you can use this on the Tram network. Children under 4 may travel free on Trams.

Once you have your ticket arranged, you need to board the tram and validate it using the machines inside the cabs where your ticket will be debited one journey. At three of Barcelona’s Tram stations there are automatic barriers where it will be necessary to validate your ticket before boarding the Tram.

Operating hours for the Trams:

The Tram service ceases on the majority of its routes at 00:00 and resumes around 05:00. You can find out specific route times here.

Limited mobility users:

Barcelona trams are very well designed for limited mobility travellers. They possess doors which allow easy access for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The tram entrance is at the same level as the tram station platform, with no gap between the train and the platform.

As well as having space for wheelchairs and mobility scooters, there is also sufficient space for bicycles and prams.
