Telefèric de Montjuïc (Cable Car)
A ride on the Telefèric de Montjuïc (Montjuïc Cable-Car) offers you an unbeatable perspective over the skyline of Barcelona and the surrounding area of Montjuïc. The Telefèric de Montjuïc is by far and away one of the most entertaining transport methods in Barcelona. The Telefèric de Montjuïc should not be confused with the Transbordador Aeri del Port which is a separate cable car system that can be seen operating over Barcelona’s port.
The base station in Parc de Montjuïc allows you to travel to Mirador viewpoint (Midway Station) and onwards to Castell which gives you access to the fantastic Montjuïc Castle.
Located on a rocky terrace more than 170 metres above sea level, Montjuïc Castle is an old military fortress with a long history closely linked to the city. The first fortification on Montjuïc Mountain was built in 1640, during the revolt against Felipe IV. In 1694 the fort became a castle and the grounds took up most of the summit, with three bastions looking inland and a line of saw-tooth ramparts looking over the sea.
Unlike the other integrated transport methods in Barcelona, the Telefèric de Montjuïc requires a special ticket. Unfortunately you cannot use a multi-use ticket like the T-10 here.
