Walk a Mile in Our Father’s Shoes…

Today at My Destination we discovered an unfathomable, and equally disturbing, fact. Before we were born, our fathers had a life. They travelled to St Petersburg, they frolicked around San Francisco, they partied in Ibiza and they honeymooned in Bora Bora. Who knew? Not us, that’s for sure.

So, on this very special Father’s Day, we’ve decided to turn back the hands of time to capture our globe-trotting dads in action. Cue the Simon Cowell trousers, Tom Selleck style moustaches and vintage/terrible photography.

When? : 1980

What’s the Story? : Exploring the bustling bay of San Francisco, all Ben’s dad could think about was whether to burst into a rendition of ‘Take My Breath Away’. He decided to stick the windswept thing he had going on.

When? : 1981

What’s the Story? : Aged 18, and let loose on Ibiza for the first time, Ellie’s dad took a rather overzealous approach to tanning. Hoping to detract from his skin luminosity with a pair of Tabasco-themed trousers, he headed out on the town.

We’re sure nobody noticed.

When? : 1980

What’s the Story? Channeling Tom Selleck meets Charlie’s Angels, in Bora Bora Emily’s dad decided that a modeling career lay ahead of him.

When? : 1979

What’s the Story? : Ready to start the opening scene from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker in St Petersburg (then Leningrad) Dave’s dad knew how to win over a crowd.

When? : 1970

What’s the Story? : Pointing his finger to ‘Naughty Nick’ at the back, Guy’s father warned the kids at Camp America to be good. Captain Jack Sparrow has nothing on this man. The lady swooning at the back clearly agrees.
