The Matthew

When in town this fantastic tall sailing ship is moored Hanover Quay, near Cathedral Walk. She is a replica of the original Matthew sailed by John Cabot to Newfoundland over 500 years ago. You can go on board to have a look between Tuesday and Sundays as long as she is not out sailing - it's best to ring ahead to check if you are planning a visit. The Matthew offers a variety of trips on specific dates including Harbour Trips, Avon Gorge Trips, Cream Tea Sailings, Fish and Chips Sailings and Pirate Sailings. These trips are popular tend to get booked up well in advance.
