How to get to O Canada House Bed and Breakfast
Driving directions from the USA/Canada border to 'O Canada' House B&B: Follow Hwy 99 from the US/Canada border, north to Vancouver. Go through the George Massey Tunnel and continue to the City via the Oak Street Bridge. Hwy 99 will now turn into Oak Street. Continue on Oak until 19th Avenue (sign will direct you to City Centre). Turn Left on 19th and then right on Hemlock over the Granville Street Bridge into the City Centre. Stay on Granville Street and turn left on Smithe Street and again left on Thurlow. 'O Canada' House B&B located at Thurlow and Barclay, however, if you go just past Barclay and turn Right into the laneway, you can park your vehicle behind the house. There are two parking stalls directly behind the house. If they are full, go past the house and turn right into the adjacent building parking lot. Straight ahead (closest to our kitchen door) are parking spots # 14, 15 and 16. You can now come through the back gate and to the left of the house to the front door.

O Canada House Bed and Breakfast Overview

'O Canada' House is an 1897 Victoria heritage home, and the historic Vancouver residence where Canada’s national anthem was written by Ewing Buchan in 1909. This charming luxury level bed and breakfast is located in the West End neighbourhood of the City of Vancouver, and within walking distance to many attractions including the Vancouver Art Gallery, Robson Street shopping district and several fine dining restaurants. With modern conveniences and comforts, the decor includes a collection of Victorian antiques and period pieces with a custom-made Victorian carpet imported from France. Guest comforts are paramount offering a 24 hour well stocked pantry with home-baked goods, tea, coffee and refreshments. Evening sherry is served daily in the front parlour, and a full three-course gourmet breakfast is served daily.

O Canada House Bed and Breakfast Accommodation:

All suites feature private baths, telephone, TV with DVD, alarm clock and radio, mini-fridge, and wireless Internet access in any location of the house. Guest amenities include bathrobes, hairdryer and a washroom package. The North Suite features views of the front garden, and includes a claw-foot bathtub and king bed. The East Suite features a king bed and a spacious ensuite with enclosed shower. The South Suite features views of the back gardens, a queen bed, turn-of-the-century writer’s desk and private ensuite with adjoining dressing room. The spacious West Suite features a queen bed, faux fireplace, armoire and an ensuite with shower. The Penthouse is a large suite occupying the entire third floor, featuring two kind beds, chaise lounge, a four-seat wooden table, skylights, and a bright ensuite with shower. Views include Barclay Street and also overlook the back gardens. The Master Suite located on the main floor features a king bed, spacious wood-panelled armoire, chest of drawers, and private ensuite bathroom. The Cottage Suite is secluded with a sunny private patio and features a queen bed and full ensuite bathroom. Small children and pets can be accommodated in the Cottage Suite.

O Canada House Bed and Breakfast Facilities:

Complimentary on-site parking is available for all guests. There is also a laptop computer and printer station, as well as a video and DVD collection, and books and magazines are provided in the front parlour. Two courtesy bicycles and helmets are available for guest use. Summer rates are in effect from May 15th to October 15th, and winter rates are in effect from October 16th to May 14th.
