Getting around in Vancouver: Trains & Light Rail Transit

Downtown Vancouver to and from Vancouver International Airport and Richmond:
Canada Line is Translink’s newest SkyTrain service connecting downtown Vancouver, the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Richmond.  Daily services from YVR to downtown Vancouver start at 5:10am with the last train at 12:57am arriving at the Waterfront Station terminal. The trip takes about 25 minutes.  Train frequency varies during the day with peak periods every 8 minutes slowing down to every 12 minutes during early mornings and evenings.  Late evening services are every 20 minutes.

Downtown Vancouver to and from Burnaby, New Westminster and Surrey:
The SkyTrain light rapid transit system with its Millennium and Expo Lines connects downtown Vancouver from the Waterfront Station to Burnaby, New Westminster and Surrey.  Train frequency varies during the day but are generally under 8 minutes.

Downtown Vancouver to and from Mission:
The West Coast Express connects downtown Vancouver Waterfront Station and the Lower Mainland to Mission during the week Monday to Friday.  Providing service stops at the following stations: Port Moody, Coquitlam Central, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Maple Meadows, Port Haney and Mission City.

Other Train Services

Vancouver connections to and from Seattle are provided aboard Amtrak Cascade.  Since this service crosses the Canadian and USA international border, customs, security and immigration laws apply and passengers are required to present travel documents.

Via Rail Canada offers trans-continental passenger train services from Vancouver to many cities across Canada, while Rocky Mountaineer provides rail services and excursions to various British Columbia destinations, including departures to Whistler from North Vancouver Station (at the corner of Philip Avenue and West 1st Street).

The Pacific Central Station at 1150 Station Street acts as the Vancouver terminus for both Amtrak and Via Rail services.
