If coming from the South, then the lodge is located 512 kms North West from Townsville via Charters Towers.
The turn off on the Kennedy Higway is well signposted.

	Undara Lodge Overview Undara Lodge is nestled amongst the scrubby eucalypts, and grasses of the Australian savanah in the Undara Volcanic National park about 30 kilometers from Mt Surprise - an outback township on the Kennedy Highway. The road is bitumised all the way and can be accessed easily by all conventional vehicles. Recommended for: All ages and levels of fitness - however will be most appreciated by adventurous persons with a love of nature and the open skies. Undara Lodge Accommodation: Caravan parking and camping are provided for, but most visitors prefer to stay in either the two-man Swagman tents permanently erected in the camp ground. More luxurious accomodation is available in the fully restored railway carriages. Dormitory Style accomodation is also available in the Stockmans quarters. Undara Lodge Facilities: Swimming Pool to relax in at the end of a hard days hiking the many walking trails within the National park, or riding one of the tour buses visiting the magnificent sights of the Lava Tubes. A La Carte Meals are served by the "Railway Station" styled restaurant under the main roof. Breakfasts are cooked on an outback campfire at the back of resort. There is also a fully equipped communal camp kitchen in the camping area for guest usuage. Laundry facilities are available in the railway carriages accomodation area. A number of escorted tours are available to guests - refer to Undara Experience in the Sights & Attractions category. Undara Lodge Location: Located within the Undara Volcanic National park, the lodge is 15 kms south of the Kennedy Highway. The turn off point on the Kennedy Highway is 17 kms east of Mt Surprise.

Awesome Nature

We had a couple of days to spare in the Cairns Region, amongst all our booked coastal activities, decided to get a hire car and see what was over the mountains. Well - a great surprise - the awesome lava tubes are a sight not to missed, and the wildlife is absolutely great. Recommend everyone jaded by all the coastal based tourism - take a break - head west.
