Tulbagh Information

Situated in the Breede River valley, Tulbagh is 120km North West of Cape Town and almost completely surrounded by three majestic mountain ranges – The Great Winterhoek in the north, Witzenberg on the east and the Obiqua mountains in the west.

Known as ‘Shiraz country’, Tulbagh opens Route 62 and forms part of the Cape Winelands. A visit to Tulbagh is not complete without visiting the beautiful wine estates along with the delectable culinary faire - locals in the know call Tulbagh the ‘new Franschhoek’.

The historic Church street is blessed with 32 National monuments and a stroll down this street gives one an authentic idea of what an 18th century Cape village would have looked like. This unique town was first discovered in 1658, developed in 1743 and now boasts some of the most beautiful examples of Cape architecture.
