GOLD Restaurant Overview

GOLD Restaurant in Cape Town offers a dining experience that provides an exceptional experience through consistently delivering delicious Pan-African food, entertainment, dancing and a glimpse at Africa's history with gold.

GOLD Restaurant is a true visitors delight. In one evening the guests at GOLD get to experience African drumming and dance, feast on African food and take a tour of the Gold of Africa Museum . The entire evening is made more authentic through participation of the kitchen staff at the end of the evening, dancing and singing.

A typical evening experience at GOLD Restaurant starts off with a genuine gold flaked welcome drink, and djembe drumming sessions, where patrons are taught ways to play the drum to make two distinctive sounds. After the drumming session, an ancient African hand washing custom using rose water takes place, before patrons are were escorted to their table in the adjoining dining room.

Various dishes of Cape Malay Cuisine and African cooking are on offer which are served off grass baskets from a set menu, in seemingly never-ending succession, by beautifully dressed waiters adorned in colourful African cloth. The beautifully designed menu, which is yours to keep at the end of the meal, also features Indian tomato soup flavoured with chillies, ginger and garlic and served with adorable Xhosa pot breads, and an expert selection of local wines.

An evening at GOLD Restaurant attempts to simulate a night of feasting under the African skies, and even ends with the arrival of the Mali puppet King and Queen.

There are few restaurants in Cape Town that can offer such an enthralling and engaging African dining experience as GOLD, and a trip here, as either local or tourist, is a truly memorable experience.
