Baia opened its doors way back in 2001, and any restaurant that can survive the Cape Town market this long must be doing something right. In part, it has to do with its idyllic location in the V&A Waterfront, with wide panoramic views from the spectacular terraces over the bay surrounding it. Everything about Baia is chic and modern, and despite its longevity has always remained at the forefront of the Cape Town restaurant scene.
But despite its location and superb decor and setting, Baia is also a culinary delight and a true quality dining experience, with a true Portuguese twist that makes it unique in the industry.
The menu mixes a range of styles and flavours, with a strong emphasis on seafood - they serve only freshest Mozambican prawns, alongside freshly caught Cape lobster, west coast oysters, and a traditional Portuguese seafood cataplana or line-fish, served in a beurre blanc sauce. Meat lovers are also catered for, however, with a selection of superbly grilled meat and poultry on offer.
The modern bar and relaxed lounge areas make for the perfect comfortable, stylish dining experience, and with the spectacular Table Bay just metres away, it'll leave you wanting more in all senses of the word.
