January 2010 Black Marlin - Massive Disappointment
Rodney Burtenshaw from Bellville, Wetsern Cape, South Africa
January 2010
What a massive disappointment - Sole on the menu but no sole apparently for 10 days according to the new chef. Kingklip was small portion, overcooked and just not up to scratch. However, top prize for comedy act (one can be forgiven for thinking one is eating at Fawlty Towers) is the cheese platter which arrived resplendent with all sorts of cheeses and trimmings all beautifully presented with each piece of cheese resting on a tennis biscuit - yes, I kid you not, a tennis biscuit! A double Frangelico to go with our coffee cost some R 87.00 (half the cost of an entire bottle). The entire meal for four cost R 1 300.00. The view, the service from the waitron, superb but the food and logistics - useless and a total waste of money. And if you do not believe this review, contact the restaurant and ask for the waitron - his name is Paddington (no joke, that is really his name) - he will remember our experience on 8th Jan 2010 - certainly we will never forget it.
