Recommended for: Families and groups looking for a cheap accommodation in the Chamonix valley in a quiet area. Ideal for cross country skiers in winter and walkers in summer. The outdoor BBQ and grills in the summer are fantastic and offered to non-residents at lunchtime too. Gite Chalet La Montagne Accommodation: Accommodation is in twin, double, triple and family bedrooms as well as dormitory-style rooms. Prices start at 15€ for a bed and half board goes up to 37€. Gite Chalet La Montagne Facilities: The Gite offers beds for up 64 visitors and has a large, well-equipped kitchen that residents can use. The atmosphere is very traditional and authentic, so don't expect glitz and glamour, it's all about a farmhouse style here, but the welcome is very friendly. Gite Chalet La Montagne Location: The Gite Chalet La Montagne is on a narrow path that leads out of Chamonix towards the village of Les Praz. The gite boasts excellent views on the Mont Blanc Massif and a south facing garden that is a true delight in summer.

Beautiful but not good

Un beau chalet ne fait pas un bon gîte, a mon avis. L'hygiène laisse franchement à désirer. L'accueil est inexistant. Aucun sens du service. Impersonnel au plus haut point. La "patronne" se plaint de perdre 10% de clients par an: elle devrait être heureuse...de ne pas en perdre davantage.
