![]() Cafe de lArve OverviewThe Cafe de l'Arve is the restaurant at the ever popular Hotel de l'Arve in Chamonix centre. More than just your usual French brasserie, the Cafe de l'Arve prides itself on using truly local produce and creating fresh, seasonal dishes served in their restaurant overlooking the river Arve.
The menu changes regularly to reflect the seasons and availability of produce and head chefs Mickey and Julien are passionate about creating top class cuisine at accessible prices.
All meat used is from herds in the Rhone Alpes and all fish is caught in Lac Leman or Lac de Beaufort. Even the fresh fruits and vegetables used are all sourced from growers in the Haute Savoie area, so expect the freshest of dishes and tastiest local produce.
By keeping the menu simple, you know you are being offered a dish which has been prepared with passion and pride by the Cafe de l'Arve team. A top tip is to eat at lunchtime, as the best value deal is a main meal and dessert (all home-made of course) for just 15 euros.
There are also menu deals in the evening including an entree and a main for 18 euros, entree main and dessert for 23 euros or the special 'menu des trois vallees' for 35 euros. |

April 2010 Fine cuisine that makes sense
Anne-Mai Do Chi from France
Locavore is the concept of this elegant and friendly place : your food is grown no further than a hundred miles away by selected producers - it's earth-friendly and always fresh. The menu changes every week. We visited Chamonix in springtime and found at the Cafe de l'Arve exactly what we like : simple cooking, happily surprising food, good wine. We tried the terrine de foie served with an onion chutney, then the omble chevalier - a fish from the brisk rivers of the Alps - and a cocotte of crispy & incredibly tasty vegetables. The traditional vacherin & meringue was perfect for the sweet tooth. Highly recommended.
