![]() Le Munchie OverviewThis funky restaurant is extremely popular and considered one of the best medium prices restaurants by many. The clientele is mostly Swedish and English and be warned as you’ll find that the staff speak better Swedish than French. Don’t go here if you’re looking for a traditional French restaurant or a good place to bring the kids. Le Munchie focuses on young people that want fusion food in a trendy but relaxed atmosphere.
The modern, fusion cuisine served at Le Munchie draws inspiration from a mixture of Asian flavours including sushi and lemon grass. But the specialty of the house must be the teriyaki duck, according to the many returning customers. Other dishes that the Chamonixinfo team has tried are the filet steak, the Thai curry and the calamari. And we really like the carrot appetizers, which make for a nice change from the traditional and boring bread. We also have to mention the presentation of the food, which is done in a colourful, modern way, which makes your mouth water even before you’ve tasted the food. The wine list is extensive and has good quality wines from all over the world and in different price categories.
The restaurant is decorated in a stylish and relaxed way and restaurant has three floors, with a bar on the middle floor with high tables for a more informal way of dining or just enjoying a drink. Large groups are usually seated upstairs, so if you are planning a romantic dinner, ask for a downstairs table. Always book a table, because Le Munchie is busy even in the inter-season. |

January 2010 Asian influenced food in a Swedish restaurant in Chamonix...
Destiny Girl from Vallorcine
..yes, on the face of it it's an odd mix, but somehow it works.
We were pleased to see this long-established little restaurant on rue du Moulin in Chamonix still had classics like the hickory smoked prawns and teriyaki duck on the menu when we ate there last week for the first time in years. Starters and mains offer best value for money, with desserts and drinks quickly racking up the bill. Also, it's a shame they do two services, so if you're booked in for 19:00/19:30 you have to leave by 22:00.
