August 2011 Best Wings in Costa Rica

As a six-year CR resident who's sampled wings from the coasts to the Central Valley, I have to say that Bar Jolly Roger is hands-down the best wing joint in Costa Rica, if not the entire planet. Storm Z has cooked up an inventive selection of wings and burgers...all of which are prepared with fresh ingredients and love. From the hot, honey garlic to the troubador to hot asian, and everything in between, the wings are definitely worth the short ride up the mountain. Even folks who don't like wings like these wings! The burgers are big and tasty, and the tortilla pizzas are great too. What makes this place truly special though is the friendly, relaxed atmosphere...open air and ocean view in the jungle. I like to get there in the late afternoon to catch the toucans and the sunset.

This place has the best wings in Costa Rica, and honestly, better than anywhere I've been in the states as well. The variety of wing flavors is amazing, so even if you have friends or kids that don't like spicy, there are a a ton of options for them, as well as amazing burgers. If you do like spicy, Storm is always happy to kick up a notch for ya. Highly recommend this place!

Ahoy Mateys! I went to the Roger for some wings n cold beer and got my fill of both. Its easy to give this place a great review.Storm,the head Pirate makes you feel at home.With so many different flavors of wing and the biggest burgers I've seen in Costa,its no wonder this place is so well liked.Often he'll have live music and the view is spectacular. I have never had a bad wing,little burger or a warm beer at the Roger.If you find yourself in Escalares,I would definately recommend you stop by.You'll be glad you did

May 2011 Great View - Amazing Burger - The Very Best Wings

I have had great experiences time after time up at this little bar. The local community seems to flock here nightly for the best burgers and wings around. If I had to guess I would say it's because of the family that runs the place. Storm and Amy Zbel butter you up with southern hospitality and cold beers while you wait on the best wings in the world. The view and breeze make for a nice dining environment and the happy hour specials help you not break the bank. Bring cash, there is no credit card machine. The drive is pretty easy with only one steep part. As I said, I have frequented this restaurant and the drive has been worth it every time.
