In this section you will be able to follow some interesting current events that are taking place, newsworthy occasions or just some up to date information about My Destination and Croatia.
On Sunday January 22nd, the citizens of Croatia took part in the National Referundum voting to become a part of the European Union. Although voter turnout was tallied at only 44% of the voting population, 66% of these voters voted in favour of the European Union. Croatians are not completely in agreement in their decision about joining the Union with some fearful that it will work against them and others completely welcome to change and improvements with the aid of the EU. After 6 years of membership negotiations Croatia will become the 28th member of the European Union in July of 2013.
INmusic Festival which will be taking place once again on Lake Jarun from June 28th to June 30th. The festival will welcome over 150 performers, thousands of music fans and numerous media personnel. An unbelievable vibe, great parties, amazing music and world renownwed artists is what brings back so many visitors every year. This year INmusic Festival will be joining together with Thumb's Up Charity ("Palčić Gore"), to raise money for much needed medical equipment for preterm babies fighting for their lives. The proceeds from face painting for 20HRK or the purchase of festival memorabilia including t-shirts and various souvenirs will be granted to the Thumb's Up Charity for the purchase of an incubator for Petra Hospital in Zagreb.
Although we like to pride ourselves on all our local knowledge about beautiful Croatia we are certainly no expert on bungee jumping in Slovenia, twisted ankle adventures climbing Machu Picchu, or being castaway in the Malaysian jungle. The My Destination team is working hard or should we say travelling hard...again, bringing you candid and real experiences from excotic locations around the globe. Definately worth the read, the My Destination Travel Blog!
