Monastery of Ayios Neophytos
Monastery of Ayios Neophytos is the most important monastery in the district of Pafos with wonderful panoramic views of Pafos coast and offers a unique insight into the secluded and tranquil life of a grand theologian. It was founded during the end of the 12th century by the Cypriot hermit and writer Neophytos who made his home in a small cave carved out from the rock face. A short walk stands the church which houses some of the most beautiful icons of the post Byzantine period and incorporates an appealing ecclesiastical museum.

Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery
Chrysoroyiatissa monastery is set in the beautiful surroundings near the village of Panayia in the Pafos district. The monastery is dedicated to ‘our Lady of the Golden Pomegranate’. According to tradition it was founded in the 12th century when the virgin Mary’s icon was transferred here by a monk. The monastery houses a collection of important icons and treasures. An impressive religious ceremony and celebrations are held here on 15 August. It is remarkable to note that the old winery of the monastery produces some of the best vintage wine in Cyrpus.
