Tekweni Backpackers Hostel OverviewLocation, location!! Just off the infamous Florida road, Tekweni Backpackers is located in the centre of Durban’s hippest entertainment area.
Everything you could wish for is at your finger tips and the area is safe. Bars, nightclubs, restaurants and pavement cafes make this area the place to be in Durban. It is the closest suburb to the city centre and the beach as well as the brand new "state of the art" Moses Mabhida stadium, the Kings Park rugby stadium and the Kingsmead cricket ground. All that and more are within 20 minutes walking distance and we are on all the main bus routes.
Vibrant, vibrant!! Well that is the best way to describe the area and the backpackers itself. Our centrally located bar echoes catchy tunes throughout the day and you can catch all the latest sports events live on our big screens. Everything flows together in an area which has been described as the "Bermuda Triangle of Southern African Backpackers", in an indoor/ outdoor tropical garden setting right next to the swimming pool. We have 'braais' every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. We provide the salad and rolls and light the fire. A great way to meet other backpackers, you bring your own meat (or whatever) and cook and socialise together with our multi-national clientele. The various types of accommodation ramble across our 3 properties. Mix it up in a dorm or go for the privacy of a single, double, triple or quad choice of rooms. You have the choice of staying right in the middle of the action (we do shut down the music and noise by 11:00pm) or in one of our quieter more remote rooms away from the hustle and bustle. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated all with ceiling fans. We have an in house Travel Centre located right at the hub of the backpackers for all your travel needs.
Oh yeah, we now have free wireless internet!! So join us and experience our "frenzied pheromones" and discover the true meaning of the saying, "Tekweni goes off!" Tekweni Backpackers Hostel Accommodation: Dormitories Our dorms have bunk beds and range from 6 to 10 beds. Bedding is provided.
Private Rooms We have an abundance of single, double, twin, triple and quad rooms. Each has its own atmosphere and that bit of privacy away from the action. All rooms have fans and bedding is provided.
