North America Travel Information

Known by many names - The New World, Columbia - North America remained a mystery to the rest of the world for millennia. Comprised of three separate nations, North America spans far and wide in the areas of culture and geography, and you can find everything from glaciers to sandy beaches during your travels.

Unfailingly described as a 'melting pot' of cultures, the United States of America grew out of the colonies of Old World nations, incorporating European traditions, and you can see native cultures whose ancient traditions are still alive and well throughout North America too. Major cities such as New York and Los Angeles draw many international visitors, and you might also be tempted by Florida's sandy beaches and hikes along the Appalachian Trail.

• Mexico was also once home to one of North America's most advanced native civilisations - the Mayans. Their culture has influenced modern Mexico, and traditions are still observed by some natives.
• Temperatures and local climate vary widely in North America, from the frozen Arctic Tundra to the balmy Gulf Shores, and the rainy Pacific Northwest to the arid North American Desert.
