Argentina Overview

Argentina

The second largest country in South America, Argentina, is home to one of its most famous cities in the form of Buenos Aires, but you can also look forward to its diverse landscape that includes the Andes Mountains, vast and fertile plains and even Tierra del Fuego, the most southerly habitable region in the world.

Long seen as a cultural touchstone of Argentina, Buenos Aires, the capital of the country, will likely be your first point of exploration when you enter Argentina. A city of millions, Argentina's capital achieved fame through its romantic style of dance, the Tango. You can discover the history of the famous dance by visiting the arrabales, where it was first invented, in between admiring the rioplatense baroque architecture of buildings in the city centre.

The wide range of ecosystems in Argentina also makes for a perfect adventure holiday in South America. You can mountaineer through the Andes, follow the history of revolutionary Ché Guevara camping along Ruta 40 or do battle with its wild rivers, such as the Rio Mendoza, by raft or kayak.
