The climate in Florence is typically Mediterranean, with high temperatures and sunny days in the Summer and colder, damper weather in the winter. From Mid-June to August days are usually hot and temperatures tend to stay around 30°C - 35°C for much of this time.
Spring and Autumn temperatures are most comfortable and pleasant, the best time to come to Florence is May-June and September-October, when you can still walk around with a lightweight jacket all day and maybe a scarf in the evening. The weather can prove unpredictable from November to February when there can be heavy rain and occasional icy winds, so be sure to bring a warm overcoat, scarf and gloves. If you are planning to visit outdoor locations or walk around the city, water resistant boots or shoes, a raincoat and a small umbrella can be useful to bring along.
It does not snow very often, January and February are the months of just 3 days of snow, but it is quite charming being in Florence with white flakes covering the town, the street and squares get quiet and out of time.
