Giardino di Boboli - Boboli Gardens

Florence

Gardens and Parks

The Boboli Gardens is one of the finest existing examples of an Italian garden of the sixteenth century. The Gardens were designed by Niccolò Pericoli, known as Tribolo, an artist who had already proved his quality making the gardens of the Villa Medici of Castello and Petraia.

The garden has a triangular shape and is characterized by two orthogonal axes that intersect at the Basin of Neptune, the axes on steep slopes, are marked by a central location and are developed through a series of terraces marked by sculptural elements in the side paths or green paths, which introduce the specific environments: glades, gardens, fences, buildings.

Lying on the hill, between Palazzo Pitti, Forte Belvedere and Porta Romana, Boboli Gardens is one of the most magnificent examples of the Italian garden, which mixes the elegance of natural architecture with manmade architecture by creating a blend of colors and exceptional shapes.

To visit the Garden entirely may take up to 3 hours time.
