KNYSNA - In the scenic tidal Knysna Lagoon, with its many secluded bays enjoy the surrounding mountains and forests – do not forget your binoculars – the variety of bird life is wide and wonderful!

Once you are on your boat it becomes your accommodation and your entertainment – choose between exploring the wonderful lagoon, fish to your heart’s content, drift slowly along towards Thesen Island (Lightleys new exciting overnight mooring venue) and explore this stunning area of Knysna with a selection of restaurants, wonderful shopping and walks along the Waterfront.

Your holiday on a Lightleys houseboat will make sure you enjoy the pleasures of boating while having all the comforts you need and you will have an ideal base from which to explore all that this wonderful world famous Garden Route area has to offer. Boating experience and skipper’s licenses are not required – just switch on your engine and your holiday of a life time has started. Piloting the houseboats is rather like driving a car – they are designed for easy and relaxed cruising and are easily manoeuvred. Wave sympathetically to the ordinary folk travelling bumper to bumper along the congested lagoon side road and try not to feel a little superior!

Businesses can arrange unusual conference and team building events – a far cry from the usual venues.

The 6 berth, aluminium-hulled Aquachalets and the newly built 4 berth GRP Leisure Liners both have ‘heads’ (shower rooms with chemical toilets) fridges, gas stoves, portable barbecues and all bedding is supplied.

On the shore the facilities consist of ablution blocks and an indoor/outdoor conference venue. There is a little shop which is well stocked with fishing equipment and bait, and for those of you who do not like travelling with rods they are available for hire. Each boat has two fishing licences and one bait collection licence.

PORT ALFRED – you can hire one of the Lightleys craft from Port Alfred too - enjoy the beautiful marina leading to the long winding tidal Kowie River, game parks, quiet backwaters and exceptional beaches and fishing spots. There is excellent scuba diving in and around Port Alfred, good river and sea fishing, the weather is warm and it has a special charm which will entice you back again and again.

Price Guide:

Prices range from R985 to R1895 per boat per night for 2-4 berth houseboats and from R1425 to R2695 per boat per night for 6 berth houseboats. Prices dependant on season.

Weekend and short breaks are available between R2675R and R6695 and 7 night breaks are priced between R5525 and R7995, depending on season and size of boat. Please contact the team at Lightleys for more information.
