Forest Edge
Take the N2 towards Sedgefield and turn north onto the Rheenendal road (about 1.5km from Kysna Lagoon Bridge.
After about 11km, just after the Rheenendal Petrol Station, turn right at the sign for Bibby's Hoek.
At this point the road turns into a dirt road but is still accessable even for small cars. Follow this road for just over 2km.
Turn left at the stop sign and continue for 1.4km.
You will find Forest Edge as the last property on this road offering tranquility at its best!

Located off the beaten track, nestling quietly in the Millwood Indigenous Knysna Forest, in the Garden Route, South Africa, Forest Edge offers a self-catering holiday haven for stressed-out city-dwellers, adventurers, nature-loving families and honeymooners. Each fully equipped two bedroom cottage can accommodate up to five people. Forest Edge accommodation offers an authentically African, memorable and affordable break-away from the stresses of everyday life.
Experience a glorious day on forest walks, biking trail adventures, picnics or lazing in a hammock, or visit one of the many beautiful beaches or picturesque Knysna town (20mins away). Rejuvenate in a hot-water outdoor shower or spacious indoor bath. Chill out on the veranda, watching birds or buck drink at the dam. Light up the braai(South African word for barbeque) under the stars and watch the flitting fireflies and evocative nightjars add to the enchantment. In winter keep warm and enjoy a movie or a book by the cosy log-fire. Forest Edge Accommodation: There are 5 fully equipped 2-bedroom gold-mining style cottages, aptly named Firefly, Froggy Pond, Fieldmouse, FoxGlove and Fairy Den. Each cottage accommodates up to 5 persons and offers the following accommodation: verandah with table and chairs that overlooks the private barbecue area; a private outdoor hot water double-shower; hammock; an open plan lounge / dining / kitchen (fridge with freezer, stove with oven plus extras like microwave and TV / DVD) and cosy fireplace.
Main bedroom with Double bed, second bedroom with 2 single beds (cot and extra mattress on request), old-fashioned bath and basin (toilet separate). Linen and bathing towels are provided and cottages are serviced daily. Park right next to your cottage. Forest Edge Facilities: Our pet donkeys (Hansel and Gretel) and the jungle gym are great fun for the kids. There's no need to get bored with fun forest walks and biking trails, stunning birdlife, swimming at the beach or at Drupkelders rock pools, yummy picnics at Jubilee Creek, nearby forest horse riding, fishing at The Drift or the host of adventure activities available in the nearby Garden Route area (e.g. Abseiling, canopying, ferry rides, whale and dolphin watching tours) and day trip options (e.g. Elephant Park, Monkeyland and more).
As an alternative to braaing under the stars there are many delightful Garden Route country restaurants and tea gardens nearby, not to mention the award-winning Saturday Farmer’s Market and the excellent restaurant selection in Knysna town.

One of the best places on our recent 2-week tour of the Garden Route. Ideally suited to travellers who enjoy the greens and peacefulness of nature and at the same time appreciate comfort, cleanliness and attention to detail. We were surprised by the little extras like a drawer full of dvdâ??s for a rainy day, or the rose we received on Valentineâ??s day. We spent our days walking the Circles in the Forest trail, Jubilee Creek and having a unique experience at one of the local country restaurants. Will return and recommend to our like-minded friends.

Our stay at Forest Edge far exceeded our expectations. The location is absolutely beautiful and we found the cottages to be well-appointed and clean. The staff were always on hand to help and were highly informative. Our only regret was that our stay at Forest Edge was too short and we did not have sufficient time to explore all the area has to offer. We will definitely be back soon ! Kind regards, Ms Mansell
