The first ever gay and lesbian Mardi Gras carnival on the African Continent that now takes place every year in the Garden Route town of Knysna will be back for 2012 and will include a day time arts festival as well as the traditional evening Mardi Gras carnival. The Pink Loerie Mardi Gras in Knysna has become an institution over the years and is designed to celebrate the diversity of South Africa's culture.

2012 will be just as much fun as previous years with the Mardi Gras taking place in the evenings with the usual fun and frivolities that have come to be expected at this Garden Route festival.
