More than 10 million visitors take a flight to Greece every year. One out of three^* comes through the Athens International Airport (AIA) ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’, the capital’s main hub, located only 35 kilometers from Athens central.

It has been awarded as one of the best and safest airports in the world, with a full list of services and facilities offered. Among the busiest airports during summer are some found on the most popular Greek islands.

You can find a direct flight to the Ionian Islands (Corfu, Zakynthos or Kefalonia); Cyclades (to Santorini or Mykonos); Dodecanese (Kos and Rhodes); or north Aegean Islands (like Samos, Lesvos and Limnos) as well as Skiathos (at Sporades islands).

AIA is also used as an air-hub for connect flights to final destinations.

The majority offer a full service of the usual facilities, like shops, currency exchange and café/restaurants, at prices that don't seem to be overly inflated.
Taxis and buses can be found right outside the doors and some of the car hire companies can hand over your car in the long term parking garage just beyond.
