My Destination Guernsey is part of the My Destination network. A global network of sites created in 2006 by two young entrepreneurs, James Street & Neil Waller. My Destination is focused on providing websites that offer unrivalled levels of local information, actually written by locals. Each site is run by a team on the ground in each destination who have their fingers on the pulse and are providing real time information. The websites combine accurate information on the local area and businesses with the added usability of an online booking engine, offering travellers a one-stop shop where they can research and book their holiday on a single website.
The websites are fresh and simple in design, with a firm focus on quality and quantity of content. Reviews are always written first-hand and every effort is taken to obtain the best images and information available in order to present a true representation of the services on offer. User-generated content and feedback is also built into the website, building upon content quantity and accuracy; major features of the service we provide.

Heading up My Destination Guernsey - Jayne Symes

Jayne Symes moved to Guernsey, Channel Islands in 2005. She left Dublin at the age of 26 after attending University College Dublin where she studied social science. She then did a years post
graduate degree in business studies and her first job following her studies was at Allied Irish Bank in Dublin.

Jayne then transferred to a bank in London and lived in London for 8 years. She is married to Andrew and has 2 children Victoria aged 12 and Tom aged 9.

I chose to give up work once I had my children, however I started working at PwC once we moved to Guernsey and worked there for 2 years and then was offered a job in an advertising and marketing agency which is where I found my feet. I work as the publications manager and am very excited at the prospect of promoting this fabulous island of Guernsey, well known for its stunning coastal views, beautiful cliff walks, beaches and not forgetting the equally idyllic surrounding islands only a short boat ride away. My present position managing an in flight magazine for a local airline and a property and lifestyle magazine has meant that I have already established a client base which should help to ensure success in running the Guernsey franchise.

I feel extremely enthusiastic about putting Guernsey on the map. In fact web advertising accounts for a quarter of total advertising in the UK and is continuing to grow. I look forward to making this
develop further and I am delighted to become part of the team!
