![]() Taste OverviewIt is the brainchild of Dutch couple Petra Flenter and Hans Molkenboer who, after managing a number of thriving restaurants in Holland, have taken the bold step of setting up shop on the white isle. Far from being a wild stab in the dark, the couple have a notable knowledge of Ibiza from their holidays here over the last twenty years and have used it to great effect in creating a culinary haven that competes with the very best.
Its conception was no mean feat; the venue was in a state of disrepair when Petra and Hans took ownership, yet it has been transformed into stylish, avant-garde dining and bar areas, with personal touches that give it real character. Sitting out in the beautiful garden under a canopy of crawling ivy has a typically-Ibizan chill-out feel; peaceful and secluded from the world beyond. The furnishings are minimalistic but Taste has managed to generate a warm, homely ambience, particularly inside where the walls are decorated with art plates and a striking mural of Ibiza Town. The plates, which feature artwork by Dutch painter Marjolijn Spreeuwenberg, represent the participation of Taste in an inspiring concept called Taste of Art, which has associations with over 100 restaurants in Europe.
The menu at Taste is refreshingly different from many so-called Mediterranean restaurants, with obvious influences from the Far-East and North Africa in the cooking. The starter of Thai soup with chicken and shrimps is an excellent case in point, as is the Moroccan lamb stew with cous cous as a main. My personal favourite was the Dorada (fish), although I wish I had taken up the option of a small portion (which is available with every main course dish), knowing now what was to come afterwards. Put simply, the tiramisu is the best I have tasted anywhere. It truly is a Taste sensation.
If you are still unsold, then consider the various promotions on offer, such as the three course set menu for just 25€ or the Formentera boat trip complete with dinner – perfect for a special celebration.

October 2009 A perfect Taste!
Far out the best place i have been in Ibiza. Nice ambient and very good service in a romatic garden. Good to know: They stay open till december, that makes them one of the hottest places in winter time. Inside is classy and warm with the fireplace This is how price-quality should be.
