Dublin:

From Dublin Airport
Airport shuttle Bus: AirCoach operates 24 hours, every 10 minutes during day and less frequently in the evening and costs €7.00 for an adult one way or €12 return. This takes approximately 40 minutes adn has the closest drop off point to Barnacles. Take this bus as far as Trinity College. From there, walk down onto Dame Street and walk along until you get to Central Bank, keep walking on and you will come to Temple Lane South. Barnacles Temple Bar House is located down the lane on the right.
Bus Route 747: Departs Dublin Airport and services the central Bus station "BusAras". From Mon-Sat, the first bus is at 5.45am and then every 10 mins until 19.40 when the buses come less frequently. On Sundays, the first bus is at 7.15am.
From "Bus Aras" Dublin's Main Bus Station

Walk around by the large grey building on your left - Dublin's Custom House. Follow the path along by the River Liffey. Cross the river at O'Connell Bridge and turn right along Aston Quay past U.S.I.T. At Merchants Arch, turn left into Temple Bar. Our hostel is located on Temple Lane - look for the big green sign.

Taxis/Cabs from Airport

There is a taxi depot outside the arrivals hall at the Airport. From the Airport to Temple Bar, it can cost anything from €16.00 upwards depending on the time of day and the traffic. Ask the driver for an approximate price guide before you get in and be careful you are not taken on the "scenic route".

From Barnacles Temple Bar to the Dublin Airport

Airport shuttle Bus : For Early morning flights leaving from reception at 3.30am, 4.30am, 5.30am and 6.30am.
You can book this at reception and costs €7.00.

Bus Route 747: The 747 is available early morning from Bus Aras.

From Dun Laoghaire Ferryport

By Bus: Take the 46A bus into the City centre and disembark at Fleet Street. Follow the direction from here to Temple Bar and it's just a 5 minute walk to our Hostel.


DART: This is Dublin's rapid train service and it operates from Dun Laoghaire Dart Station to Tara Street Station in Dublin City centre. Turn left out of the station and walk down along the Quays past U.S.I.T and continue to Merchants Arch. Turn left through the Arch and into Temple Bar. We are located on Temple Lane.

From B&I Ferry Terminal North Wall: Take the City Express bus to the Central Bus station "BusAras" and follow the directions to the hostel as above to Temple Bar.

How to find us

Barnacles Quay Street House is located on one of the cobbled pedestrian streets in the heart of Galway and finding us is very easy.

Bus

There are two bus stations in Galway, one just services the public bus company and the other services private bus companies. Both stations are just a 5 minute walk from Barnacles. Please see directions in the Walking section.

Travelling to and from Dublin:
Bus Éireann - The public bus service offers an hourly bus service running between Dublin's central bus station and the Galway bus station. This takes on average 3 hours and 40 minutes.
GoBus - A quicker service is offered by this private company who run 14 services between the two cities daily (and Dublin Airport). This service takes on average 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Other parts of the country: Bus Éireann services most other parts of Ireland, as do a number of private companies.

Walking

To get to the hostel from either the Bus & Train Station (same location) or from the Private Coach Station:
Walk diagonally across Eyre Square
Turn left onto Williamsgate Street and continue straight down Shop Street
At the Kings Head Bar, keep left and walk down High Street onto Quay Street
Our hostel is situated on the right, directly opposite the Quays Bar

Follow all signs for Galway until you come to The Martin roundabout, and take the 1st exit
Continue straight through all the traffic lights
At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit, and continue straight through 2 sets of traffic lights
At the next set of traffic lights, Moneenageisha - at teh G Hotel/Huntsman Bar, keep left
Keep left at the next set of traffic lights along by the water
You arrive at the Docks - a one way system and you will see Hynes Yard car park on your right, it is the only multi-storey carpark on this street. Please bring your car park ticket to the hostel so we can validate it
To find us from this car park, walk out the exit opposite to that which you entered, this will bring you out onto Merchants Road. Take a left and at the end of this road turn right. At the end of this block there is a small lane way almost opposite you (a restaurant called Cactus Jacks on the right on the lane way), walk up this lane and Barnacles Quay Street House is facing you as you come onto Quay Street.
