Ireland by Car
Over the past number of years Ireland has extended its motorway network, making it much easier to drive between the main urban centres in the country.
However to make the most of a road trip around Ireland, you will see more of the country towns and rural landscape by leaving the motorways and taking to the National Primary and Secondary routes. There are many interesting sites throughout the country that can be accessed more easily if you have your own car as public transport outside the main cities can be limited. Check out our driving distance chart below to get an idea of the distances between regions.
All of the usual international car hire companies have offices located at the main airports and some have city centre offices. These can all be booked online in advance or by calling to the desks on arrival.
