My Destination is focused on offering unrivalled levels of local information. This is what we pride ourselves on, and it's our promise to our users.
Therefore, each destination is run by a team on the ground who have their fingers on the pulse and write from a first-hand experience, whether they are trying out places to eat, visiting sites of interest, undertaking activities, exploring hidden 'secrets', and speaking to the locals who are 'in-the-know'. Our local experts take every effort to accurately capture this information through photography, videos, virtual tours and writings. It can be truly said that our content is fresh, local and 'hand-made'.
Our Local Experts in Isle of Wight
Having grown up in Surrey, in a rather busy part of England, Rebecca moved over to the Isle of Wight in 2006. Surrounded by the sea, never more than a twenty minute drive from a beautiful beach, it is her idea of heaven! Also, being one of the most southerly destinations within the UK, the island benefits from plenty of warm summer sunshine and fine weather. The stunning countryside provides Rebecca with plenty of wonderful places to walk her dog and soak up the scenery. During the winter months, she finds that a good meal by the fire at an island pub is always hard to resist! Friendly laid-back islanders make her feel part of the community, with a more relaxed pace than the hustle and bustle of mainland England. However, Rebecca always looks forward to buzz of the big annual events too, including the ‘Isle of Wight Festival’, ‘Cowes week’ and the ‘Round the Island Boat Race’.
Although Rebecca has so far enjoyed a career educating primary school children, she has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, looking out for a possible business opportunity or the chance to set up her own website. So, when she came across the MyDestination.com network, Rebecca soon decided that it was an opportunity not to be missed!
“I’ll be able to offer a state-of-the-art website for the island, within a rapidly developing, innovative, world-wide network. Yet perhaps more importantly, I will also be able to offer the ‘personal touch’ at a very local level. A global brand, run by an island resident! I am excited about my new venture… to provide a top quality ‘one stop’ travel website, all about the island that I love”.
Rebecca is looking forward to working with local businesses in helping to promote the Isle of Wight. She has no doubt that MyDestination.com/IsleofWight will not only appeal to the current island tourists, but will also attract new visitors to this much-loved British tourist destination.
