CHEF'S TABLE Welcome to the Isle of Wight's first and only chefs table, set in the heart of the kitchen directly opposite the pass you will get to smell and watch every dish get plated up and leave the kitchen directly in front of you. Watch the team of chefs as they carefully construct your food, help the waiting staff in serving you and also answer any questions about each dish. Sit through an entire professional service and enjoy this very rare opportunity. Justin said: "The reason for the chefs table is simple, I want our customers to be able to come in the kitchen and see how we work, we have nothing to hide, all our food is made by us from the bread to the ice cream, most people have to go to London for this experience so I wanted to bring the chefs table concept to the Isle of Wight, its great fun for the customers and the chefs and provides great entertainment for everyone."

February 2012 Michelin star quality arrives on the Isle of Wight
Luisa Welch from London
There is talent and then there is Justin Brown. This young, multi-award winning chef has made Farringford at Freshwater his new home, after reaping success after success at his previous restaurants The Carnarvorn Arms in Burghclere near Newbury, and more recently at The Sun Inn in Dunmore. Lucky Isle of Wight, Justin is now yours. Restaurant Justin Brown opens tonight, without fanfare, yet it's already fully booked. And those who have trialed his tasting menu know why. A simphony of wild mushrooms as delicate as silk but deeply flavoursome, local shot pigeon breast with sweetcorn tree-way,cooked, pureed and dust, his latest innovation. Delicately cooked cod, a pork belly that would tempt even a vegetarian, local cheeses, bread baked in the wood fired oven which is also the restaurant's centrepiece with a parsley butter mousse, and a pannacotta so moorish I wanted two. Yet the food looks simple and unfussed, but it's the attention to details, the unexpected textures, the flavours, that captivate the diner. Flavours explode on the palate, and you just want more. Very good wine list too, with some real gems at a decent ;price
