Istanbul Weather

Istanbul has a temperate climate. It has a hot and humid summer season, starting from mid June and lasting until about mid-September. During summertime, it’s unusual to experience much rain, if any, and most days will be sunny with blue skies.

From October to March, however, the city can be rainy and windy. Thanks to its coastal location, the winter in Istanbul (from December to February) is not freezing but still cold, and snowfalls are rarely heavy.

Outside of the summer months, it’s worth taking an umbrella or raincoat with you to avoid being caught unaware as the weather tends to change very quickly. Though late spring and early autumn are ideal seasons to travel to Istanbul, there are plenty of suitable attractions and things to do throughout the year.
