Folk revivalist duo the Civil Wars has gotten a lot of attention these past two years after their release of their debut album “Barton Hollow”. One of the most promising acts in the folk-country scene, this Nashville based band composed of singer songwriters Joy Williams and John Paul White, bring some old school country and rock-folk tunes legacy of the tradition started by people like Woodie Gurthie and Pete Seeger. Their song ‘Poison and Wine’ and their covers of Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ and Leonard Cohen’s ‘Dance me to the End of Love’ earned them two Grammy Awards for Best Country Duo and Best Folk Album of 2012. The Civil Wars will be presenting their repertoire of love and longing songs tonight at Salon IKSV.
