Maroela Caravan Camp Overview

Maroela is a quaint, small satellite camp situated on the banks of the Timbavati River, just a short drive away from the popular Orpen Rest Camp. This camp is just one of two in the park catering solely for campers and guests with caravans, and there are no pre-erected accommodation options available here. The result of this is that staying in Maroela is a truly magical African bush experience, free from much of the activity that characterizes the larger camps within the park. It is also located close to a small watering hole, which often brings animals close to the camp fences, making for exciting encounters with wildlife.

Maroela Game Viewing

Maroela rest camp is also located in a wildlife-rich region of the park with regular general game encounters, and sightings of lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog, particularly towards the Timbavati river. Birdlife also thrives in the canopies of the large acacia and marula trees in the region, making for a well-rounded game-viewing experience.

There are communal ablutions and cooking facilities located in the camp, with 20 sites catering for up to 6 people each available. There are no other facilities available to guests, and activities and administration are handled at Orpen.

Common in the area : Buffalo, Elephant, wildebeest, Giraffe, Zebra, and general plains game.

If you are lucky you may see : Lion, Leopard, Wild Dog, Black Rhino, Cheetah, Thick tailed bush baby
