Roodewal Bush Lodge Overview

Roodewal Bush Lodge is an often overlooked but truly unique camp within the Kruger Park. Situated approximately 44km north of Satara, it rests on the banks of the picturesque Timbavati River, where plant and animal life thrive. A large viewing deck, which perches over the river bank on large stilts, offers an unparalleled view of the region, and is the perfect spot to sit back and take in the serene natural environment. Much like Boulders Lodge, Roodewal must be booked out in its entirety, making it the perfect location for larger groups, celebrations, corporate functions, or family reunions. And despite this, each unit has superb privacy, allowing guests to escape to the comfort of their own accommodation.

Game Viewing

There is a good wildlife population in the region, with particularly good populations of lion and elephant, and the chance of spotting the elusive and beautiful nyala. The Camp overlooks the Timbavati River and so there is plenty opportunity for you to see animals come down to the river bed. There is a marvellous viewing deck for game viewing.

Common animals in the area: lion, elephant, zebra, wildebeest and giraffe.

If you are lucky you may see: leopard, saddle billed stork.

Facilities and Activities

There is no reception at Roodewal , and check-ins are completed done at Satara Camp. There is no public telephone, internet, or cell-phone available; no shops - the nearest one is at Olifants. No day visitors are allowed, as Roodewal is a private camp. There is no eco-information center in Roodewal. See Roodewal facilities and activities.

Timbavati is 42km/2hr 30 minutes away on the S39.

Recommended gates:

Orpen 69km/3hr along the S39, to the S40 and the H7.
