Olifants Camp Overview

Olifants Rest Camp is without doubt one of the most scenic in the Kruger Park, with sweeping views from both the lookout point and a number of river facing bungalows. The camp rests high above the mighty Olifants river, offering panoramic views of the lush Bushveld below, and many an hour can be spent behind the binoculars simply absorbing the panoramic views.

While the surrounding region is now renowned for large and diverse wildlife sightings, there’s a good chance you’ll get to see superb sightings of elephants, as well as a selection of other game, including a variety water-based animals such as hippos and crocodiles.

Olifants Game Viewing

Lions can also be seen in the area, and the impressive martial eagle can be spotted soaring high above the dense bush below. Other birds spotted in the region include the elusive Pel’s fishing owl and a number of kingfisher species.

Common in the area: Elephant, Hippo, Crocodile, Fish Eagle

If you are lucky you may see: Lion, Leopard, Martial Eagle, Pel’s Fishing Owl

Olifants is a large rest camp, and there are a variety of options available to suit couples, families, and larger groups in bungalows and small units, and there are also a variety of luxury units and guest houses which offer spectacular views from a range of lookout decks. During peak times these are booked out early, so book them well in advance to secure some of the most spectacular accommodation that the park has to offer.
