Once a site has been selected, it is included on the World Heritage site list and is protected for future generations against threats of damage caused by natural and mechanical conditions.

Ideal Venue for Leaderships Camps & School Tours nGomo Safari Lodge Accommodation: Luxury Safari Camp: This fully serviced self-catering camp comprises of six Luxury Safari Tents. All with their own bathroom. The tents have a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. Oil heaters are available for those cool winter evenings. A communal lounge with full bar, pool table and DSTV is available for all guests. The self-catering kitchen boast everything from a chip fryer to grills, ovens, microwave, fridges, deep freezers, sandwich makers and stoves for your convenience, as well as an outside braai area. There is a fireplace for those cold winter evenings. There is a stunning outside lapa, deck and pool. This exquisite camp is ideal for weekends away, special functions, birthdays, batchelor parties, conferencing and team building exercises. There are six 4 sleeper units available. This new exclusive thatched bush camp comprises of 4 luxury rooms with en-suite bathroom including a Jacuzzi bath and open stone shower. Each room is equipped with a stocked bar fridge. Heaters are supplied for those chilly winter nights. The lounge area has a fireplace, lounge and dining area with TV & DSTV. Breakfasts are served on the deck or boma depending on the weather. In the afternoons enjoy sundowners in the splash pool while watching an exquisite African sunset. Authentic African bush braais under the evening stars can be arranged for the guests. Dinners are served in the boma or dining area. After dinner sit around a glowing fire with a glass of wine or sherry while enjoying the African skies which is an experience never forgotten. We cater for special functions, anniverseries, romantic getaways, corporate lunches, product launches, conferences and special birthdays. This is an exclusive private camp and only consists of 4 x 2 sleeper rooms.
Tribal Tented Camp (Bed & Breakfast): This new east african tented camp comprises of 10 safari tents on wooden decks, each tent sleeps two people. Each room has its own bath, toilet and basin. Breakfasts are served in the thatched lapa or in the restaurant area. This camp is ideal for individuals, birthday parties or corporate groups. nGomo Safari Lodge Facilities: n’Gomo Safari Lodge A privately owned Safari Lodge situated deep in the heart of the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve in the “Cradle of Humankind” - where you become one with nature. Warthogs lazily feed within touching distance and other animals can be seen down the valley. This is an ideal venue for school leadership camps & tours. The Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve is only 40 minutes drive from Johannesburg or Sandton, or 15 minutes from Lanseria Airport. The lodge is situated 6km inside the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve. The Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve boasts game species like White Rhino, Hippo, Lions, Siberian and Bengal Tigers, Cheetah, Jaguar and Wild Dogs and more than twenty other species of game. All told, over 650 head of game roam an area of approximately 1600 ha. There is also the predator camp, spanning an area of approximately 100ha, where you can witness our magnificent Prides of Lions, Wild Dogs and Cheetah living in their natural environment. They also have a animal crèche where you can see their tigers and lion cubs as well as the reptile centre which boasts numerous indigenous snakes as well as some exotic types.
Lion & Predator Camp: The reserve is proud to boast a pride of lions in a specially erected enclosure. As a result they are fed and not allowed to hunt. They still operate as a pride and live as close to nature as possible. There are smaller camps adjoining the lion camp which house cheetah and a pack of wild dogs. These are both highly endangered species. The animals on view were all born in captivity.
Vulture Hide: The local vulture colonies have been decimated in recent years, due mostly to poisoning. We supply carcasses to the vultures at the vulture restaurant. They are often joined by a variety of carrion eating birdsand are a delight for birdwatchers.
Hippo Pools & Breeding Centre: This is opposite the main gate of the Reserve. The walkways are fenced off with cables and leads to wooden platforms which afford excellent viewing of the hippo pools. The breeding centre’s main focus is a programme for White lions, other endangered species, Jaguars, Servals and Bengal Tigers.
Wondercave: Visit this magnificently beautiful natural wonder of 5 – 10 million years old. There are formations of up o 15m, rim pools, cave pearls, Stalactites & stalagmites. Entry by lift, no crawling necessary. Abseiling also available by bookings only.
Observatory: The observatory is privately run by an advanced amateur astronomer, Bill Hollenbach, at the Wondercave. The observatory provides a variety of services including public talks and lectures, school groups, practical astronomy courses, from beginner to advanced observations. Please enquire about dates of shows.
Other activities of offer include : Night & day game drives, Guided nature walks, Quad biking, Crocquet, Game viewing on horse back, Clay Target Shooting, Archery, Volleyball, Paintball Ballooning, Drumming, Eco-challenge, Anthropological Tours, Star-gazing, Abseiling, and Potjiekos Competitions. nGomo Safari Lodge Location: Directions to n’Gomo Safari Lodge from Main Entrance of Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve: Once at the main entrance of the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve there is a little hut where you normally pay. The gate closes at 5.00pm, but the exit (right of hut) is open. You will then come to a big silver gate with 3 padlocks on it. NGomo's lock is the RED LOCK. (code is 37890). Make sure all the buttons are pushed up then press down 3, 7, 8, 9, 0, then press the button at the bottom where the key normally goes in, the lock will open. When locking it please clear the numbers. Drive into the reserve. When coming to the first circle turn sharp left towards the Wondercaves. The road goes around the hill until you get to another circle at the Wondercave. There is a road to the left which goes into the wondercaves, there is a road to the right which takes you to the predator camp. You need to go in the road that is straight ahead. There is a concrete dustbin which has a n’Gomo Safari Lodge sign on the top. Go down that road. Ignore the NO ENTRY, it is for residents only. Follow the road until you get to a thatched hut and a black gate. It has a sign on that says Ngomo Safari Lodge & Conference Centre. Go through the gate up the tar strips and then turn left at the cattle grid and wooden planks. Follow the road all the way up the hill on the 2 concrete strips. Keep going all the way down passed the tents on the left and keep going until you reach the conference centre.The lodge is 5KM in the reserve and normally takes about 15 minutes as it is a sand road. i am studyng 2 tshwane university of technology and i am doing my third year of ecotourism. i am looking for a place where i can do my practicals for 6months in nature experience and lodging. i would like to start frm november and january latest.i would love to do volunteering if possible
