The majority of the private "big 5" game reserves are found along the border of the Kruger National Park in an area which is loosely referred to as the Greater Kruger Area. The most important city in this area is Nelspruit - the economic hub of the Lowveld. Other towns along the major routes are, from south to north, White River, Hazyview, Bushbuckridge and Hoedspruit, and from west to east, Malelane and Komatipoort - the border town between South Africa and Mozambique. These towns are indicated with yellow markers on the map below.
