![]() Carnivore OverviewThe Carnivore in Muldersdrift is the only place in Joburg to get your meat fix - of both conventional and game meat. This great concept restaurant, which originated in Kenya, has become a firm favourite amongst tourists, and for a good reason. A truly unique dining experience awaits you as soon as you set foot through the door, and when you lay eyes on the massive open fire and tribal spears packed full of meat, you’ll see exactly what we mean.
It’s safe to say, then, that vegetarians best steer clear of this one. On the menu are at least 10 different kinds of meat, including the more unusual delicacies of kudu, impala, warthog and crocodile. Of course, you’ll also find the more conventional meats, but it’d be criminal not to try something slightly more exotic, even if it’s just to say you did. If you must avoid the meat, however, there are a couple of vegetarian options available that are apparently also very tasty.
Once you have selected what meat you’ll be dining on, carvers will slice it directly onto your plate alongside a healthy serving of traditional pap and sauce, or a baked potato. But it doesn’t end there – it’s an all you can eat affair, and when you eventually decide to surrender, you can lower the flag to signal your defeat. Until you’re ready for dessert, that is.
The Carnivore offers locals and tourists a great African dining experience, and for the business travellers they are also able to organise unique conferences in the large 500-seater restaurant.
