Piccolo Mondo Restaurant

Johannesburg

Italian Award Winners Promotion

The Piccolo Mondo Restaurant is situated inside the famous Michelangelo Hotel, a place where the world meets and plays. The restaurant comprises superb cuisine, a relaxed ambience, elegant décor and service excellence combined to provide a unique dining experience. It overlooks the cosmopolitan Nelson Mandela Square and opulently surrounded by golds and bronzes, The Piccolo Mondo has an air of Italian Renaissance combined with classical elegance, ensuring your meal is enjoyed in a stylish and graceful environment.

Flair, adventure and culinary delight are at the heart of the menu at the Piccolo Mondo Restaurant. The menu combines a range of traditional Italian themed dishes that, under the direction of the executive chef and his team, have received a modern twist. Designed not to just feed the appetite and appease the taste buds, several of the dishes bring with them a visual signature never seen before. Their menu caters not only for the business weary traveller and the erstwhile tourist, but also for the many visitors popping in for a meal on their visit to the Nelson Mandela Square.

In the past the menu has included culinary delights such as a deconstructed caprese salad, chocolate pasta, and a honey mustard hot smoked salmon served at the table in a mystical cloud of smoke underneath a glass dome.

Good descriptions of the Cape wineland areas set the scene for the wine list, which include speciality varietals such as De Waal Viognier, Hartenberg Weisser Riesling, Eventide Viognier, Paul Wallace Malbec and Du Preez Hendrik Lodewyk Petit Verdot 2004. Wines by the glass include Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial and 20 or so other wines.

In addition, the Piccolo Mondo has a wide variety of specialized Chef's table's and festive menu's to celebrate any event or function and is suitable for most group sizes. The Piccolo Mondo is ideal for any occasion and The Il Ritrovo Lounge offers a more informal environment with a resident pianist. The splendour of the Renaissance architecture at the heart of the rapidly growing Sandton CBD will leave a lasting impression from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.
